Today's topic -  Medial Epicanthoplasty Revision The case of revision is th at  overexposed  lacrimal lake and asymmetrical medial commissure after medial epicanthoplasty.  Patient want to correct those problem through the revision, and Dr.Song operate revision; use extra skin to cover  overexposed  lacrimal lake and reshape of medial commissure to make similar. Revision is required high-skill technique in eyeplasty. Thus, patient need to choose right and proper procedure in the first surgery. Otherwise, the risk of side effect, infection and fail case could increased.  And patient who is looking for revision need to choose surgeon who has a lot of experience in eyeplasty.

Question - Should I have to choose incision method for double eyelid surgery revision? Answer - Patient does not need to choose incision method for revision. Because, incision method makes scarring and hard to correct eye creases line. Most of our patient choose non-incision method for revision, of course result is also satisfied. And the procedure requires short recovery period, no scarring and easy to correct eye creases. However, patient need to discuss with doctor which procedure is suitable.

Question -    I have much fat on upper eyelids, Can you remove it through double eyelids surgery? Answer -  You do not need to remove the fat on upper eyelids. Because, the fat would decline with advancing years. Also the reason, patients want to remove the fat is that eyelids are not defined with too much thin eyelid thickness; Shown below picture (Before)   * Before (Droopy eyelids & puffy upper eyelids) The patient had underwent double eyelids surgery and lateral canthoplasty in other clinic. As times go by, her eyelids had started droopy and it caused droopy eyelids. So she has done revision to correct those issue in Girin Plastic Surgery clinic. * After (NIP & Lateral canthoplasty revision) Through Non-Incisional double eyelids surgery with Ptosis correction, droopy eyelids are corrected and she got much more bigger eyes after lateral canthoplasty revision.

Question -  Does scarring would be occurred after NIP? * Before NIP * After NIP (3 months) Answer - No scarring after surgery! Because NIP is No incision (suture) double eyelids surgery & Ptosis correction, thus there no scarring at all!

Girin Information Center - Lateral Epicanthoplasty

Today's Topic - Recovery period of Lateral Epicanthoplasty Lateral Epicanthoplasty takes more time rather than other eyeplasty such as double eyelids surgery. Because, It needs to be stitch out two times post-operative 5 days and 8 days. And the shape of lateral canthus would be changed through 6 months. During recovery period redness, conjunctival edema and lateral canthus could be shown 'droopy'.But those are just temporary symptoms, which get better as times go by. After 5 months, there is no visible scarring, no redness, no conjunctival edama with wide & defined eye shape.  Since the lateral epicanthoplasty required long recovery period rather than other eyeplasty, many patients worry about recovery and result.  However as it mentioned above, patients need to take a time for recovery for 6 months at least.

Today's Topic - What is Ptosis correction? Ptosis is defined as drooping of the upper eyelid(s). And this is caused sleepy, tired appearance and reduces vision. It has problem both visually and functionally. Ptisos correction perform to repair ptosis surgical method which tightening the levator muscle to elevate the eyelid by Dr.Song, specialized in eyeplasty. After the surgery, patient would get more defined eyes.
