Would it possible to reshape my squared face by botox?
Today's surgery case is about a patient who got Botox because of his square jaw, but it did not have much effect and decided to get the surgery done. If you want to check rather Botox is suitable for your case then just simply place your hands on both sides of your face and bite your teeth. When you do so and there are lots of muscles you can feel, then the Botox will suit you. However, if you can't feel many muscles then the square jaw may be due to either your bone or fats, so you cannot get great results from getting Botox. This patient visited our clinic after getting several Botox to reduce his stubby-looking jaw but because it wasn't very effective.
This patient has a much bigger jaw on the right side than the left. And not only does he have big jawed bone but also has a severe asymmetric facial line from the cheekbone to the chin. He also has a considerable head, which would be hard to reduce the facial size through Jaw Reduction. But Jaw Reduction cannot reduce the size of one's head size.
This patient had enough muscles on the jaw for the Botox and had some effects. However, the main cause was on his bones which were the reason why he couldn't see huge effects through Botox. In this case, he would get dramatic effect only through Jaw Surgery and injecting fat into his short chin and areas that look sunk-in in middle parts of his face will give him a more natural volume to his face. But because his muscles are very strong and his skin tissues are thick, he would need lots of recovery period and expected to swell up more than usual. The patient wanted his jaw to be sharper however shaving down too much would make him look unnatural therefore we decided to leave out some of the angle underneath the ear and enhance his short-looking face.
This patient had New V-line Surgery done which did not need to perform T-fracture to correct the chin's length. New V-lin Surgery is different from existing surgery method, it would only fracture one piece to make a V-line, the tissues would be less damaged and have faster recover than the existing 3-fraturing method.
5 Days After the Surgery
As we expected, the swelling is severe than the other patients.
There are serious swelling on the lips and chin.
10 Days After the Surgery
The swelling starts to fade slowly.
You can see that swollen lips reduced noticeably around the mouth area.
Three Weeks After the Surgery
From this point on, the major swelling had almost gone and there were only minor swellings that only the patient himself can recognize. These kinds of swellings take up to 6 months to fade and once all the swellings are gone, the face can look much thinner.
3 Months After the Surgery
Compared to the picture from the third week, the swelling around the tip of the chin area has subsided noticeably. From this point on, the overall face length looks very different.
Six Months After the Surgery
Even the minor swellings had gone and can see that his face got smaller.
The asymmetry, the patient was worried about the most, has corrected remarkably.
At first, he was worried because his swelling was reducing differently on each side of his face however you can see now that its alot better than before.
Compared to the pre-surgery picture, the facial line and assymetry has gone alot better giving him a smoother image. We cannot show the whole face however this patient's overall face image has gone from ice-cold to cute and young-looking face.
Most men hesitate on getting Jaw Surgery because they think it's usually for women and when it's done to men, many people think that they would get unnatural face line. It's the thought that "slimmer face isn't for men". However, if you were to leave out angle underneath your ears and correcting the line naturally would give you a better, positive image.

The patient had a CT scan right after his surgery, so keep in mind that he still has his blood pocket in, so you may see a line. Blood pocket is not necessary for all Jaw Surgeries, however, there may be times when the patients would need to wear them.
